Out with the new and in with the old! A photo series that has been missing for 4 years resurfaces at just the right moment. Redefining the typical fruit still life, Painted explodes off the pages and captures the excitement of mixing music, paint, photography, and of course, fruit.
Painted was shot in 2019 and rediscovered earlier this year. I started the project by taking a broken speaker and covering it in a trash bag. This created a black surface that would stand out with bright colors. Then laying down acrylic paint on the speakers I was able to press play and watch it fly. But this wasn’t enough. In the heat of the moment I threw a bitten apple onto the speaker just to see what happen. That’s where the series began to conceptualize. I ran around mad collecting all sorts of fruits from the salad bar. Painted became one of my most prized photo series after it was shot. To rediscover after all these years and be able to showcase after all this time is really special to me.
